A growing hospice and palliative care organization in Palatine, Illinois is seeking a strong hospice nursing leader to help set the clinical standard for the entire program.
This is not just another nursing management role. This is a senior clinical leadership position for someone who understands hospice, knows what survey readiness really means, and can bring structure, accountability, and confidence to a growing clinical team.
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Director to serve as the senior clinical authority overseeing hospice clinical operations. This role is primarily office-based and focused on compliance, documentation integrity, audits, staff supervision, IDG leadership, clinical accountability, and overall program quality.
Position SummaryThe Clinical Director provides leadership and oversight for hospice clinical services while ensuring compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation, state regulations, internal standards, and quality expectations.
This role protects the integrity of clinical documentation, patient eligibility, Plan of Care accuracy, interdisciplinary coordination, and clinical performance across the program.

What You Will Lead Clinical & Regulatory Oversight- Conduct routine and targeted chart audits
- Ensure Plan of Care accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Maintain continuous survey readiness
- Monitor eligibility documentation, certifications, and recertifications
- Identify documentation gaps and lead corrective action
- Support quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
- Ensure clinical practice aligns with Medicare hospice regulations and state requirements
- Provide direct supervision to RN Case Managers and clinical leadership staff
- Support performance evaluations and competency validation
- Oversee clinical orientation and ongoing staff training
- Coach nursing staff on documentation, compliance, workflow, and clinical standards
- Strengthen accountability, follow-through, and workflow consistency
- Help build a strong, dependable, and professional clinical team
- Lead structured IDG meetings
- Ensure strong collaboration between nursing, social work, chaplain, aide services, and administration
- Review complex cases and guide care planning
- Promote clear communication standards across disciplines
- Support appropriate escalation and resolution of clinical concerns
- Keep the team focused on patient eligibility, quality care, and documentation accuracy
- Ensure EMR documentation is timely, complete, and compliant
- Monitor productivity, visit documentation, and workflow timelines
- Support efficient use of hospice software and internal systems
- Partner with administration on operational improvement
- Help create structure around clinical processes, audits, reporting, and follow-through
- Active, unencumbered Illinois Registered Nurse license
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
- Minimum 4 years of hospice experience required
- Supervisory or clinical leadership experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of Medicare hospice regulations and Conditions of Participation
- Experience conducting chart audits and documentation reviews
- EMR proficiency and Microsoft Office skills
- Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
- Ability to lead with structure, accountability, and professionalism
- Primarily office-based clinical leadership role in Palatine, IL
- Focused on compliance, documentation, audits, staff supervision, and clinical operations
- Participation in leadership on-call rotation as needed
- Ability to assist with patient care when required
- Collaboration with administration, IDG team members, and field clinicians
- Strong leadership presence expected within the clinical team
