Role Description The Service Technician is a full-time, on-site role based at the Napleton Automotive Group location in Palatine, IL. This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repair work on a wide range of vehicles, following manufacturer and dealership standards. Day-to-day tasks include inspecting vehicles, identifying mechanical and electrical issues, completing repairs, and documenting all work performed in service records.

The technician interacts with service advisors and other team members to ensure clear communication, efficient workflow, and timely completion of service orders. The role also involves maintaining a clean and safe work area, using proper tools and equipment, and providing professional, customer-focused support when needed.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Maintenance & Repair skills, including routine service and complex mechanical work.
  • Candidates should possess solid Troubleshooting abilities to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues efficiently.
  • Candidates should possess experience with Field Service or shop-based service operations, adhering to safety and quality standards.
  • Candidates should possess excellent Customer Service skills to support a positive service experience and clear communication.
  • Candidates should possess general Maintenance capabilities, including vehicle inspections and preventive care.
  • Relevant automotive technician certifications (ASE or manufacturer-specific) are beneficial.
  • Previous experience as an automotive technician or service mechanic in a dealership or repair facility is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, repair orders, and diagnostic reports.
  • Comfort working with diagnostic tools, software, and modern vehicle technology.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
