Job Purpose
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and orderly environments within facilities operated by the Kitaskinaw Education Authority (KEA). This entry-level position supports the daily cleaning and upkeep of school buildings, offices, and community spaces to ensure they remain welcoming and functional for students, staff, and community members. The Custodian works under the supervision of the Custodial Site Supervisor and collaborates with the Building Maintenance Personnel and custodial team to ensure facilities are maintained according to established cleanliness and safety standards.
This role contributes to the overall upkeep of KEA facilities by performing routine cleaning duties, assisting with building preparation for events or programs, and reporting any maintenance or safety concerns.
Clean and well-maintained facilities support a positive learning and community environment. The Custodian plays an important role in maintaining spaces where students, staff, and community members feel comfortable, safe, and respected. Through responsible stewardship of facilities, the Custodian helps support the effective delivery of education programs and community services within KEA buildings. The role reflects KEA’s commitment to respect, responsibility, and care for shared community spaces.

Experience And Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- A clear Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerability Sector and Child Welfare Intervention Check is required.
- First Aid / CPR Certification
- WHMIS Certification
- Occupational Health & Safety training
- Previous experience in custodial services, cleaning, or building maintenance is considered an asset.
- Experience working in schools or public facilities is beneficial but not required.
- Facility cleanliness and sanitation standards
- Workplace safety procedures
- The Custodian demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and accountability while supporting the upkeep of KEA facilities.
- Effective teamwork within facilities operations
- Basic knowledge of cleaning procedures and equipment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently

- Monday to Friday, shift times may vary (Essential Services)
- 12-month-based employee, will have accrual-based vacation hours on an annual basis (Full-time)
- Work occurs within school and community facilities.
- The role may require physical activity including walking, standing, and cleaning tasks.
- Occasional lifting and moving of objects, equipment, or supplies may be required as part of daily operations.
- Some evening or weekend work may be required depending on facility use.
- Primary location:
Enoch Cree Nation KEA Building, with occasional travel to various sites. - Must sign and adhere to the Enoch Cree Nation Confidentiality Agreement upon hire.
