Summary
Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City infrastructure, including stormwater systems, roadways, and landscapes.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: This position is supervised by the Streets & Stormwater Operations Manager.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May act as a Lead to part-time employees, volunteers, or temporary workers as required and assigned.
Essential Function Duties and Responsibilities

- Performs work in the construction and maintenance of streets, drainage facilities and swales
- Participates in the rebuilding and repair of all culverts and construction of new culverts on all City properties
- Performs maintenance, construction and repair of drainage pipes, swales and sewer lines
- Follows plans, instructions and standard operating procedures in performing maintenance, construction and repairs
- Performs a variety of construction duties per area of assignment, i.e., breaking pavement, setting concrete and asphalt, and filling potholes
- Pours and finishes concrete, clearing runways and taxiways
- Performs routine sewer maintenance work
- Mows canal banks, cleans and repairs culverts and catch basins, and constructs new culverts.
- Operates a variety of light to medium equipment, i.e., mowers, edgers, weed-eaters, chippers, chainsaws, and blowers
- Drives truck hauling crews, equipment and materials to and from work sites
- Drives trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, gravel, concrete, and sand
- Operates equipment such as compactor, trencher, concrete saw, etc.
- Performs preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor
- Cleans equipment
- Performs duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards
- Arranges for the transport of equipment and machinery across private property or public thoroughfares as directed
- Answers any complaints as directed by supervisor
- Performs mosquito spraying under the direction of a licensed technician
- Documents daily work actions and hours in work order software
- Performs emergency operations as required
- Performs other duties as required
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent, and
- Previous experience in the field of construction, maintenance and repair of streets and stormwater
- Any related combination of training and experience
- Valid Florida Driver's license with a good driving record.
- Commercial Driver's License Certification Type B or ability to obtain within 12 months from date of hire.
- Florida Department of Environmental Protection Stormwater Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspector
- Florida Stormwater Association Level II Certification
- Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). of Traffic (MOT) Intermediate Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months from date of hire
