Maintenance Technician – Part Time

St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Palm Harbor, a vibrant and welcoming parish in the Diocese of St. Petersburg, is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician. This position ensures the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of all parish buildings and grounds, supporting the mission of the Church through excellence in facility care.

• Perform general maintenance and repairs on parish facilities including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and basic construction.
• Monitor and maintain the overall condition of the church, rectory, parish office, classrooms, and surrounding grounds.
• Conduct regular inspections and routine maintenance to prevent issues before they arise.
• Provide janitorial support as needed, including waste disposal, cleaning, and restocking of supplies.
• Set up and break down furniture and equipment for Masses, parish events, and meetings.
• Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies, including after-hours situations when necessary.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized services.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with diocesan guidelines and safety standards.

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational training or certification in building trades is a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in facilities maintenance or similar role.
• Familiarity with maintenance tools, procedures, and safety practices.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Must pass a Level II background check and complete Safe Environment Training required by the Diocese of St. Petersburg.
• Respect for the teachings and values of the Catholic Church; practicing Catholic preferred, but not required.
