The Position:
This position is a member of the Palm Springs International Airport and performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair activities on airside, landside and terminal areas of the airport, and performs a variety of related tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibilities. The Airport:

Examples of Essential and General Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repair activities on a variety of airside, landside and terminal areas and equipment including grounds and runways, lighting systems, electrical systems, paved and unpaved surfaces, buildings and mechanical equipment.
- Perform carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs on equipment and facilities throughout the airport; maintain a variety of fixtures and equipment including generators, automatic gates, transformers, plumbing equipment, runways and facility walls and doors.
- Perform general maintenance and repair on a variety of systems and equipment including irrigation systems, locks and office equipment.
- Operate and maintain airfield equipment and trucks including a forklift, sweeping equipment and a stripping machine.
- Provide maintenance and repair services on airport equipment utilized by airport vendors.
- Ensure that airport navigational devices are properly maintained; change windsocks as necessary.
- Observe and implement safe work practices and procedures.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum and Preferred Requirements
Minimum requirements must be clearly demonstrated on the application to be considered, however, meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee an invitation to compete further in the selection process. Experience requirements must be demonstrated in the "Work Experience" section of the application, other sections of the application will not be used to determine experience qualifications. (One year of work experience is the equivalent of 12 months of full-time work.
"Full-time work" means at least 36 hours of work over a period of one week or 1,872 hours of work over a period of at least 12 months.) Qualifications noted as "desirable" or "preferred" are not included as part of the minimum requirements.
Experience:
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible maintenance experience is required.
Training:
High School Diploma or equivalent education is required.
License or Certificates:
Possession of, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of appointment, a valid California Class B Driver License with a satisfactory driving record (a driving record may be deemed unsatisfactory for any of the following reasons: three or more moving violations or reportable accident within the last three years; conviction of driving under the influence within the last five years) is required.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an Airport Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge, which is approved through the Federal Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is required.
Special Requirements:
- Must be willing and able to work various hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Incumbents are enrolled in the California Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Pull Notice Program. The DMV Pull Notice Program provides information on the incumbent's driving record and driving record status on a periodic basis to the City.
