Description
At this time, Palos Hospital is not considering external ADN candidates for RN openings. Internal employee ADN candidates are encouraged to apply. Hours are Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (may be flexible with hours), no weekends or holidays. ICU/ED/PACU experience preferred. Two years hospital/surgical services experience preferred.
The Staff Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM and complies with ethical and regulatory standards. The registered professional nurse assumes accountability for individualized, age-specific care from admission to discharge, provides direct care, collaborates with the care team, develops a plan of care, provides evidence-based education, and evaluates nursing practice.
Responsibilities- Assess and record patient status and identify care needs on admission or point of care entry.
- Organize assessment data to be accurate, complete, and accessible.
- Identify problems requiring immediate attention and validate diagnoses with the patient/family and care team.
- Document diagnoses to support outcomes and care plans; initiate discharge planning at admission; involve patient/family in the plan of care.
- Plan and provide patient education grounded in evidence-based practice; revise the plan of care as needed; ensure consistency with standards of care.
- Coordinate care through conferences with patient/family and health team members; make appropriate referrals for continuity of care.
- Communicate patient information to the care team and participate in multidisciplinary meetings for feedback.
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or ADN with commitment to obtain a BSN within three years
- Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- ACLS/PALS/ENPC/TNCC requirements as specified for ER and related areas
Preferred:
- Experience in specific clinical areas as applicable
