Telephone Operator (part-time)
Department: Information Technology
Work Location: Main Campus
Duties- Operate telephone system to relay incoming, outgoing and interoffice calls.
- During low call volumes, assist customers by meeting their needs to the fullest extent.
- Answer customer questions with appropriate information by continuously familiarizing oneself with the college’s personnel, departments, operations and calendar.
- Direct calls to proper person or area.
- Respond to questions regarding all telephone related systems.
- Maintain directory data.
- Contact supervisor with telephone emergencies, repairs, and direct telephone repair/installers to appropriate locations.
- Distribute, register, program and maintain loaner cellular devices.
- Maintain spreadsheets of telephone extensions for new installations, inventory telephone equipment, create manuals for users and operators, assist in keeping on‑call operators up to date with new information, and compile packets for training workshops.
- Perform clerical duties such as maintaining the office file system, processing orders to outside vendors, ordering supplies, picking up and distributing mail, and verifying and typing payment authorizations for invoices.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 0–3 months related experience and/or training.
Qualifications- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write correspondence.
- Highly effective vocal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to maintain composure and remain positive during large call volumes.
- Moderate typing and computer skills.
Part Time
HoursRegular:
Monday through Friday, 1–5 p.m.
Summer:
Monday through Thursday, 12–5 p.m.
Hours may be adjusted.
$15.46 per hour plus exceptional benefits.
