Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President of Workforce, Strategy and External Affairs, the Dean of Community Education and Partnerships provides leadership for the team responsible for the identification, organization, presentation, and evaluation of courses and programs that are designed to meet the varied needs of the district’s population ranging from entry-level career programs to personal enrichment for adults. The Dean is also responsible for the operation of the Moraine Business and Conference Center (MBCC).

This administrator fosters strong relationships in the business, academic, and content-provider communities. The Dean is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and advance lifelong learning within the college and in business and industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide dynamic leadership, energy, direction, and guidance to subdivision staff.
  • Provide overall planning, supervision, direction, and evaluation of the initiatives and activities of the subdivision, including training and development, professional development and community services, and other areas as assigned.
  • Provide strategic leadership for community education and continuing education programs.
  • Provide leadership to the subdivision team to facilitate existing conference center client relationships and plans for new business development.
  • Assess community and workforce needs to identify opportunities for new educational programs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate non-credit, professional development, workforce training, youth, and lifelong learning programs and courses.
  • Develop annual budgets, monitor fiscal and programmatic operations, document and evaluate monthly financial performance, and direct the preparation of subdivision reports.
  • Advise the Vice President of Workforce, Strategy, and External Affairs on operational performance and programmatic changes.
  • Work collaboratively with administrators and others in accomplishing the goals of the subdivision and the college.
  • Serve as a member of the Deans’ Council and other committees and task groups as required.
  • Provide staffing recommendations to the Vice President of Workforce, Strategy, and External Affairs, assure orientation of personnel, and meet requirements for staff evaluation.
  • Utilize college-hiring practices to provide instructors for courses offered through the subdivision.
  • Meet College guidelines concerning course management, including approval procedures and scheduling.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of staff development activities for the subdivision. Provide development activities for college and district participants.
  • with the grants office to prepare grant applications; provide implementation, monitoring and fiscal accountability for grants within the subdivision.
  • Assure compliance of the subdivision with college policies and procedures and local, state, and federal guidelines for programs and services.
  • Maintain appropriate accrediting status, when applicable, with state and federal agencies as required for program approval.
  • Market community education and conference center offerings, including creating and disseminating marketing materials in cooperation with the college’s Marketing and Creative Services department.
  • Foster a climate of collegiality within the business community and between the business community and the college.
