Duties Summary
The Multimedia Engineer reports to the Manager of Multimedia Services and is responsible for the design, purchasing, installation, inventory, documentation, maintenance, and repair of all Multimedia Systems and some IT Systems at the college. The Multimedia Engineer may be responsible for coordinating, leading, and executing in-person, hybrid, and virtual Multimedia Events and Activities. The Multimedia Engineer may be responsible for or may assist with the production, recording, editing, and content delivery of multimedia content.
In addition, the Multimedia Engineer will develop knowledge of and work with new technologies related to projects administered by the Multimedia Department. The Multimedia Engineer is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for ensuring the functionality of all campus wide audio, video, and multimedia technologies including maintenance, repair, and software/firmware updates.Responsible for the installation of new audiovisual systems including hardware, video devices, audio devices, and control systems.Designs and configures AV-IT Systems including the creation of system schematics, diagrams, user interfaces, etc.Responsible for creating bid specifications, reviewing contracts, vendor communications, and commissioning outsourced installations.Provides training to faculty, staff, and the Center for Teaching and Learning on newly implemented Multimedia AV-IT technologies.Assists with support and maintenance of campus security systems (security cameras, emergency paging, etc.)Updates leadership on projects and support issues. Makes suggestions for process improvements.Produces, records, edits, and controls access to Multimedia content.Responsible for support of Virtual, Hybrid, Live streaming, and Web-Conferencing Technologies.Responsible for staging, set-up, support, and strike of MVCC Events for faculty, students, and staff.Communicates daily using ticketing system and chats, keeping track of current support requests.Responsible for inventories of supplies, tools, and consumables.Responsible for tracking and logging the location and status of AV equipment.Assists with coordination of tasks for Multimedia staff and student employees.Provides phone support as needed.Performs other related duties and provide interdepartmental/interdivisional support as assigned.Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree required;
Bachelor's in an audiovisual or multimedia related field. - Minimum of two or more years of related experience, preferably in a college setting.
- Extron Control Professional Certification or similar training preferred.
Please note that a minimum of 2 (full time equated) years is required.
Qualifications

Ability to effectively complete projects independently and as part of a team.Proficiency in pulling and terminating a variety of cables and connectors, including soldering and crimping types.Proficiency with tools and test equipment used in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of audiovisual systems.Knowledge of basic networking configurations, and audiovisual standards, formats and protocols..Familiarity with audiovisual configuration tools and applications.Ability to install, configure and support digital signage systems.Ability to read, interpret, analyze, and apply technical manuals, specifications, diagrams, and instructions.Ability to troubleshoot problems, gather and analyze data, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to research, learn, and apply new technologies, methods, and protocols.Ability to prepare technical documentation, including manuals, specifications, training materials, and diagrams.Ability to communicate technical information effectively with management, faculty, staff, user departments, vendors, service representatives, and members of the public.Ability to respond effectively to technical inquiries and provide appropriate information or assistance.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully…
