DutiesUnder general supervision, the Community Service Officer protects institutional property against fire, theft, vandalism and unauthorized entry, performing the following principal responsibilities to provide service to the college staff, students, and visitors in accordance with the most recent established procedures and directives. Aid, as instructed or in the absence of orders, in disaster control. As needed the Community Service Officer will be assigned to dispatch duties.
The Community Service Officer is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.
- Patrol buildings and grounds of the college institution by motorized or foot patrol to deter and report crime, enforce non-criminal violations and provide service to staff, students, and visitors.
- Examine doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure and working properly.
- Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
- Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of college property.
- Shoot alarm or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons and assist with building captain communication.
- Permit authorized persons to enter property.
- Lock or unlock college buildings as assigned or directed by most recent procedures.
- Give basic first aid to persons injured or report college property as directed or in accordance with most recent procedures.
- Be accountable for department policies, procedures, applicable rules and work requirements.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Perform desk relief and maintain desk competency along with a current LEADS certification.
- Assist in matron duties when designated as matron trained.
- Assist with coordination and completion of evacuations during emergencies.
A minimum of three (3) months related experience and/or training with a minimum of 30 hours of college credit hours at the time of application OR a minimum of one (1) year related experience with training. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must be able to successfully complete certification program for Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS) and maintain current LEADS certification.
QualificationsThe Community Service Officer patrols buildings and grounds of the college institution by motorized or foot patrol to deter and report crime, enforce non-criminal violations and provide service to staff, students, and visitors; performs desk relief and maintains desk competency along with a current LEADS certification; gives basic first aid to persons injured or on college property as directed or in accordance with most recent procedures;
works independently and exercises good judgment; reads and comprehends instructions, short correspondence, and memos; writes correspondence and departmental reports; plus other duties as assigned.
Part Time
Hours24 hours per week – Rotating shift assignments, weekends, and/or holidays.
Salary/Wage$16.21-$17.60/hour (Updated)
