Housekeeper, Maintenance​/Cleaning

Position Overview

Mentor Community Services, part of the Sevita family, offers community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This full‑time position requires Monday to Friday hours from 6:30 am to 2:00 pm, with a pay rate of $15.00 per hour. Applicants must pass a Level 2 background screening.

Responsible for cleaning all common areas and ensuring facilities are neat, safe, and debris free.

• Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met.
• Cleans floor surfaces, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies, using vacuum cleaners, shampooers, and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines; empties trash receptacles and cleans and maintains windows, walls, woodwork, and light fixtures.
• Recognizes maintenance needs or hazards and submits work orders for repair.
• Follows universal precautions and strict procedures regarding cleaning or hazardous materials, infection control, isolation, fire, safety, and sanitation practices; disinfects equipment and supplies using germicides or steam‑operated sterilizers.
• Observes precautions required to protect customer property and reports damage, theft, and found items to supervisors.
• Sorts, counts, and marks clothing and other articles, loads washing machines, irons and folds dried items, and stores them in linen closets.
• Performs errands such as taking laundry to the cleaners, buying groceries and household supplies, and records expenditures as necessary.
• Prepares rooms for meetings and arranges decorations, media equipment, and furniture for social or business functions.
• Understands, complies with, and promotes all rules regarding residents’ rights, promoting independence, choice, and empowerment of individuals receiving services, treating them with dignity and respect.
• Maintains knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures regarding housekeeping.
• Performs other related duties and activities as required.
