Position: Maintenance Support Worker (Panama City Campus)

PCC Finance and Administration Department

Responsibilities
  • Assist with maintenance of buildings, including windows, doors, furnishings, drywall, painting, construction, trash and debris removal, and cleaning of all areas; provide set‑ups for special functions both on and off campus.
  • Perform general cleaning and grounds maintenance around buildings, parking areas, drives, and other campus areas; operate mowers, edgers, fertilizer spreaders, spray rigs, tractors, and weed trimmers to maintain lawn areas; plant trees, maintain roadways, parking areas, and fencing.
  • Maintain exterior sprinkler systems and repair water pipes and sprinkler heads.
  • Perform routine maintenance on groundskeeping equipment, mowers, tractors, edgers, and other lawn equipment and tools.
  • Assist in HVAC routine preventive maintenance, special projects, emergency repairs, cleaning, adjusting machinery, and cleaning equipment rooms; assist in repair of piping for water and sewer systems; assist in other duties as directed by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Completion of 9th grade.
  • A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one prior to hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of general safety practices (OSHA awareness).
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
  • Trade‑related certifications (entry‑level HVAC, electrical, or plumbing).
Training and Development

During the first three months, the Maintenance Support Worker will receive structured, hands‑on training to build familiarity with campus systems, tools, and safety procedures, and will work closely with their supervisor and department head.

Training includes guided sessions on university equipment, standard operating procedures, shadowing experienced staff, learning preventative maintenance practices, and progressively taking on independent assignments with ongoing support and feedback.

By the end of the first 90 days, the Maintenance Support Worker is expected to navigate campus facilities, perform routine maintenance tasks, and contribute independently to the department’s work while continuing to develop advanced skills.
