Senior Accountant

Our client, a growing manufacturing and distribution company located in Park Ridge, IL, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This role will be responsible for supporting financial reporting, month-end close, account reconciliations, inventory accounting, and operational analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, experience within a manufacturing or distribution environment, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Ensure accuracy of the general ledger and compliance with GAAP.
• Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Analyze financial results, identify variances, and provide actionable insights to leadership.
• Support inventory accounting, cost accounting, and operational finance initiatives.
• Partner with operations, supply chain, and other business units to improve financial processes and reporting.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and annual planning activities.
• Support external audits and ensure compliance with internal controls.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies within the accounting function.
• Participate in special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience with in a manufacturing or distribution environment required.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and lookup functions.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Net Suite, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, or similar.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to partner with stakeholders across the business.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• Public accounting experience is a plus.
• Experience with inventory, costing, and manufacturing operations.
