Special Education Compliance Coordinator

District 207 is seeking applicants for a Special Education Compliance Coordinator for the  school year. The Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for assuring that the building-level special education procedures and paperwork align with district policies and state and federal rules and regulations. The coordinator will report to the Special Education Department Chair. Current staff members and outside applicants interested in this position should submit an online application.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Special Education or related field
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License
  • Proven experience in special education or a related field
  • Comprehensive knowledge of special education regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Support inclusive educational practices and strategies for students with diverse learning needs
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and educational software that support learning for students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, parents, staff, and administration
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
Duties
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of students with disabilities within the school and the broader community
  • Ensure that all special education meetings meet state regulation timelines and regulations are met.
  • Provide professional development to special education case managers regarding compliance paperwork and procedures
  • Provide up to two sections of direct instruction
  • Create, implement, and regularly update Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for students with identified needs, ensuring access to the general education curriculum.
  • Coordinate and facilitate rising 9th-grade articulation meetings
  • Facilitate designated IEP and Eligibility meetings as the LEA
  • Conduct IEP reviews/audits to ensure high levels of compliance
  • Identify and resolve inconsistencies between building practices and state and federal rules and regulations
  • Coordinate and administer accommodations for school and state testing
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed of best practices in special education and provide in-service training about compliance topics to staff
  • All other duties as assigned by the Department Chair
Salary and Benefits
  • Salary, benefits, and the work year are established in accordance with the current District 207 Collective Bargaining Agreement and Board of Education policies.
