Tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering
Tulane University, a leading R1 research institution, invites applications for a full‑time tenure‑track faculty position in Mechanical Engineering within the Department of Physics and Engineering Physics. The department is committed to fostering interdisciplinary and collaborative excellence by integrating physics with core engineering disciplines.
This position offers an opportunity to expand our Mechanical Engineering program and participate in cutting‑edge research at the intersection of mechanical engineering and STEM fields. The new faculty member will contribute to research, teaching, and mentorship, and help develop core user facilities such as the new Micro/Nanofabrication Facility in the Paul Hall.
Required Qualifications- A doctorate in mechanical engineering or a related field and postdoctoral or comparable research experience.
- A strong record of experimental mechanical engineering research in areas such as aerodynamics, robotics and control systems, advanced manufacturing, sustainable energy, solid mechanics and tribology, computational mechanics, micro/nano systems, machine learning applications, or thermofluid systems.
- Demonstrated success in research, a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentorship, and a willingness to collaborate across disciplines.
- Applicants at the Assistant Professor level or more senior.
- Experience in interdisciplinary research and teaching with faculty from other schools within the School of Science and Engineering.
