Seasonal Positions at the Park
Department Information – This is a temporary position (9 months or less). Pay $16.55‑$17.50 per hour. Employment starts Spring 2026; dates are variable.
Positions- ANS Boat Inspection Technician
- Staff the park ANS inspection station.
- Conduct physical boat inspections, decontaminations, and boater interviews.
- Provide information and assistance to the boating public (distribute brochures, promote ANS education, educate about State Park regulations, etc.).
- Clean and perform light maintenance of interior and exterior of ANS inspection areas, including facilities and grounds.
- Accurately count and record all boat inspections, either written or via phone application software.
- Training in boat inspection and decontamination methods will be provided.
- May document and report visitor complaints.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Park Maintenance Technician
- Assure quality customer service and maintain facilities, repairs, and cleanliness.
- Provide information and assistance to visitors.
- Assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, and transportation of materials and supplies.
- Perform grounds maintenance: mowing, weed control, and upkeep of visitor use areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Visitor Services Technician
- Staff the park entrance station and/or visitor center.
- Provide information and assistance to visitors (distribute maps/brochures, orient visitors to park facilities and amenities, promote education programs, educate on State Park regulations, etc.).
- Provide information to the boating and non‑boating public.
- Sell park passes, permits, books, maps, clothing, firewood, and other novelties.
- Operate a cash register and handle cash transactions.
- Answer telephones, transfer/take messages, photocopy, and file documents.
- Collect revenue, complete shift reports, and balance the shift box at the end of each shift.
- Prepare campground reservation forms and documents as needed.
- Document and report visitor complaints.
- Clean and perform light maintenance of interior and exterior of gates, visitor center, and offices, including litter pickup.
- Assist with special events or programs within the park.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must have a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
- Must be able to work outdoors and on weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
- May need to undergo criminal background investigation.
- Possess strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to work with little supervision.
- Must be available for up to 40 hours per week and commit to the summer season (maximum of 9 months).
- Flexible with school schedule.
These positions may perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. For those who will be expected to drive a state‑owned vehicle, maintain a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any state‑owned vehicle. For workers who have an assigned state fleet vehicle, are required to operate a vehicle, or use a state fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle, motor vehicle records will be pulled for review.
