Chief Maintenance Engineer - Blennerhassett, Giovanni Hotel and Spa

The Blennerhassett, a Giovanni Hotel and Spa is a historic hotel, and historic buildings need someone who genuinely knows how to keep them running. If you're the person people call when something breaks — and you'd rather prevent the call in the first place — this is your job.

• Maintaining and repairing the systems that keep the hotel running: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire and life safety systems, guest room equipment, kitchen appliances, refrigeration, pool equipment, lighting, and laundry equipment
• Running our preventative maintenance program and completing work orders accurately and on time
• Making sure all fire and safety inspections get done — and that anything flagged gets corrected
• Taking responsibility for the safety of the building
• Supporting and monitoring capital repair and renovation projects
• Meeting with vendors and suppliers to discuss repair scope, products, and materials
• Getting pricing and bids, and putting together cost estimates as directed
• Monitoring tool inventories and keeping supplies stocked — placing orders with approved vendors within budget
• Keeping shops and work spaces clean, organized, and safe
• Training and leading our engineering team members, and completing your own training on safety, security, department procedures, and brand standards
• Knowing our emergency procedures inside and out
• Being a visible, professional presence with guests, vendors, and coworkers — in uniform with your name tag whenever you're in public areas

• High school diploma or GED required; two years of college or vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering or plumbing
• Six years in facilities maintenance, plant operations, or engineering services for a hotel
• Hands-on experience in the technical trades — HVAC, electrical, plumbing — with specialization in at least one, and a drive to keep building on it
• Professional certification and licensure where required by law;
  Certified Pool Operator preferred
• Comfort working with computer-generated data and work order systems

You think analytically and solve problems creatively, but you're practical about it, because historic properties rarely come with a manual. You keep everyone in the loop, clearly and without drama. And when a guest or a coworker comes to you with a concern, you actually listen, put yourself in their shoes, and come back with a solution.

Compensation: $55,000 - $60,000 per year
