The Load Checker safely and efficiently performs the checking of loads for all orders, including deliveries and large will‑call orders. The role requires 100% accuracy in properly tagged orders, correct material type and size, correct quantity, proper sequence, sellable and damage‑free goods, ensuring loads are on time and in full. This position reports directly to the General Manager and interacts daily with Load Builders, Receiving Coordinators, Location Supervisor, Customer Service Employees, and Drivers.

• Ensure loads are built safely and accurately by correctly reading pick tickets and invoices.
• Help identify damaged material.
• Ensure appropriate paperwork is complete & scanned as per company policy.
• Maintain yard cleanliness during the course of work.
• Follow through with the team to make system corrections when mistakes are made.
• Perform daily safety audits of forklift and report any malfunctioning equipment.
• Assist with prevention of material damage.
• Identify areas of opportunity for best practices in handling products and packaging for adverse weather conditions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• OSHA Certified Forklift license (training provided).
• Minimum of 1 year of load building experience (preferred 2 years).
• Ability to speak, write, and read English.
• Knowledge of proper load labeling, protection, and damage prevention.
• Ability to tally correct lineal footage totals on orders.
• Ability to read and interpret "picking tickets" and invoices.
• Ability to load and unload materials safely.
• Proficiency operating forklift, banding machine, tin snips, tape measure, power saws, hand truck, pallet jack, re‑fueling stations, and related equipment.
• Use of appropriate safety gear.
• Proficiency operating personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and related devices.
• Experience with dimensional lumber, panel products, and other building materials preferred.
• Knowledge of receiving and inventory control principles, practices, and protocols preferred.
• Ability to read grades of lumber and other materials preferred.
• Acceptable driving record preferred.

• Stand for extended periods.
• Lift, push, pull up to 90 pounds and carry objects 50 feet.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Drive a company vehicle when necessary.
