A progressive and growing local municipality is seeking an experienced facilities manager to lead the operation, maintenance, and long‑term stewardship of a diverse portfolio of public buildings and facilities.

You’ll oversee day‑to‑day facilities operations while helping shape the future of municipal infrastructure through strategic planning, asset management, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Lead the operation, maintenance, repair, and improvement of municipal buildings and facilities.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize asset life and operational reliability.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance personnel while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and customer service.
  • Plan, prioritize, assign, and evaluate facility maintenance activities across multiple locations.
  • Oversee facility condition assessments, asset inventories, replacement planning, and long‑range maintenance strategies.
  • Manage work order systems and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), ensuring accurate reporting and performance metrics.
  • Prepare and administer departmental operating and capital budgets.
  • Manage capital improvement projects from planning through construction and project closeout.
  • Administer maintenance, construction, and professional service contracts, including vendor selection, negotiations, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA/WISHA, ADA, building codes, environmental regulations, and applicable safety standards.
  • Coordinate emergency response activities related to facilities, utilities, and building systems.
  • Collaborate with department leaders, consultants, contractors, vendors, and community stakeholders to ensure exceptional service delivery.
Required
  • Associate’s degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Building Operations, Engineering Technology, Public Administration, or a closely related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, maintenance operations, construction management, or building operations.
  • Four (4) or more years of supervisory or management experience leading maintenance or facilities teams.
  • Experience managing operating budgets, contractor relationships, maintenance programs, and capital improvement projects.
Preferred

Experience with in municipal government, county government, higher education, healthcare, utilities, airports, or other large institutional facilities is highly desirable.

  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance
  • Capital Improvement Programs (CIP)
  • Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Contract administration and procurement
  • Public sector operations
