Job OverviewThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for the repair, upkeep, and preventive maintenance of hotel facilities, guest rooms, and equipment. This role ensures that all building systems operate safely and efficiently, supporting a comfortable, well‑maintained environment that enhances the guest experience.
The technician performs hands‑on maintenance work and responds quickly to service requests to minimize downtime and guest disruption. This position operates in a fast‑paced hotel environment requiring strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a guest‑focused service mindset.
This role involves active, physical work throughout the property, including guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house spaces. The position requires flexibility to work varied schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability for emergencies. Success in this role requires reliability, technical ability, and a commitment to quality workmanship and guest satisfaction.
Job ResponsibilitiesMaintenance Operations
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house spaces.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, and carpentry.
- Replace or repair fixtures, fittings, and basic equipment as needed.
- Assist in ensuring all building systems operate safely and efficiently.
- Complete assigned preventive maintenance tasks on schedule.
- Inspect guest rooms and facilities to identify maintenance issues early.
- Report major issues or system failures to supervisors promptly.
- Support upkeep of accurate maintenance records as required.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests.
- Complete repairs efficiently while minimizing guest disruption.
- Maintain a courteous and service‑oriented approach when interacting with guests.
- Support a high standard of room and facility readiness.
- Assist in maintaining HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Perform minor installations, adjustments, and repairs of hotel equipment.
- Ensure systems are functioning safely and properly at all times.
- Support senior maintenance staff with more complex repairs as needed.
- Follow all hotel safety policies and procedures.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or hazards immediately.
- Use tools and equipment safely and maintain a clean work environment.
- Support compliance with building and operational safety standards.
- Properly use, maintain, and store tools and equipment.
- Assist in tracking maintenance supplies and reporting shortages.
- Support organization and cleanliness of maintenance storage areas.
- Ensure responsible use of materials and resources.
- Work closely with maintenance leadership and team members to complete tasks.
- Coordinate with housekeeping and front office to support guest needs.
- Communicate issues clearly and elevate concerns appropriately.
- Support smooth daily operations across departments.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:1–3+ years of maintenance, repair, or general handyman experience required, preferably in a hospitality or commercial environment.
Travel required:No travel required; position is property‑based.
Physical requirements:- Frequent walking throughout all hotel areas, including guest rooms and service areas.
- Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders.
- Regular lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Use of hand tools and equipment, requiring fine motor skills.
