The role of the Office of Human Resources at Queen of Peace Residence is to assist the Little Sisters of the Poor in cultivating a work environment that values equal opportunity, diversity, teamwork and individual excellence.

MissionThe Maintenance Technician will carry out duties in keeping with the mission of Little Sisters of the Poor, namely the caring for the aged poor with love, respect and dignity. “Making the elderly happy, that is what counts” was a saying of the Little Sisters of the Poor foundress Saint Jeanne Jugan. Central to this philosophy is the promotion of a holistic approach for our Residents in an atmosphere of kindness and respect in creating a family spirit.

The Maintenance Technician assists the department in maintaining the facility and providing a safe functional, sanitary, and comfortable environment by assuring that the ventilation, fresh air, electrical and mechanical systems, water supply, and sewage disposal are maintained in accordance with recognized safety standards, state/federal codes and local ordinances meeting the standards and philosophy of the facility and policies/procedures that govern the facility.
JobStandards
- High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience
- Associate’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is a plus
- Four or more years of manufacturing experience; strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some HVAC experience and vacuum furnace experience, preferred
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently
- Education sufficient to read, write, and speak as needed for the job, and a willingness to learn and follow directions and communicate effectively.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize assigned tasks
- Some general mechanical skills and aptitudes; a working knowledge of plant equipment and machinery preferred.
- Performing highly diversified duties to install and maintain the facility’s equipment
- Providing emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and performing scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment
- Execute mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment
