The Battery Service Technician supports and promotes the battery program, providing safe roadside service solutions and ensuring positive member experiences. Key responsibilities include responding to member requests, performing battery testing and replacement, offering roadside diagnostic assistance, and promoting AAA products and services.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to member requests for service and accept calls with ETA.
- Locate members, assess safety of the scene, and ensure vehicle is in a safe position for service.
- Greet members and manage their emotional state, providing reassurance and advice.
- Communicate battery program details and recommend appropriate battery type.
- Report diagnostic results and provide referrals to AAR-approved facilities.
- Maintain performance standards in conversion, testing, and installations.
- Provide minor mechanical assistance and perform diagnostic testing on disabled vehicle systems (electrical, battery, starting, charging, ignition, fuel).
- Determine best course of action and seek assistance if unsure.
- Perform battery testing, boosting, maintenance on terminals, and install batteries.
- Follow safety procedures and call for tow if necessary.
- Maintain high service standards and keep service vehicle and equipment in safe working order.
- Record van activity, complete invoicing, and manage inventory.
- Inspect and maintain vehicle condition and battery stock.
- Certify to operate a Battery Service Vehicle through required training.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Base pay: $23.50 - $26.45 per hour (may vary by knowledge, skills, shift differentials, and experience).
- Shift differentials: $2.75 per hour overnight (10pm-6am); $1.75 per hour evening (6pm-10pm); $1 per hour weekend. Differentials can be combined.
- Annual bonuses and incentive compensation available.

- High School or GED required.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Post-secondary training in automotive mechanics preferred.
- Familiarity with electrical troubleshooting preferred.
- Active and valid driver's license issued by one state or jurisdiction.
- Must obtain and maintain a minimum of one-year DOT card before hire and annually thereafter.
- Must pass a motor vehicle record check during pre-hire screening and periodically during employment.
