Responsibilities- Responsible for maintenance of lawn and/or grass using mowers, edgers, and trimmers.
- Rakes and maintains leaves, plants, flowers, trees, or shrubs.
- Cleans up trash in parking lots/garages and exterior grounds.
- Empty and clean trash containers.
- Assist in snow removal and cleanup.
- Assists in overall maintenance of grounds using equipment such as power washers, sweeper truck, lawn mowers, weed eaters, trimmers, edgers, etc.
- Fastens attachments such as grader, harrows, floats, and rollers to tractors with hitch pins.
- Releases brakes, shifts gears, and depresses accelerator or move throttle to control forward and backward movement of tractor.
- Steers tractor by turning steering wheel and depressing brake pedals.
- Assists in maintaining the integrity of the racing surface.
- Delivers sand and clay to racetrack and barn areas.
- Must clean all equipment used.
- Must report problems with machinery or attachments to Motor Pool.
- Assists all areas of the department when needed.
- Assists with transportation of disabled horses.
- Raking material around the racing surface.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid drivers’ license which will be subject to annual DMV background checks.
- Must have 1-year maintenance experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Employee must be able to qualify for a West Virginia State Racing Commission License. Must possess a valid drivers’ license for the state in which you reside. In addition to a pre-employment background check, this position will be subject to periodic checks of your driving record to determine your continued suitability to drive company and/or patron vehicles.
- Must have OSHA certification on machinery used by Track Maintenance.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
- The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electric shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to very loud.
