As a Utility Plant Operator 2, you will be responsible for skilled work in the daily operation and maintenance of steam boilers and auxiliary equipment. Your work will be critical for ensuring an uninterrupted supply of heat and hot water for the operation to Hospital buildings.

Duties include:

• Operating boilers and related equipment to ensure a continuous and controlled production of steam.
• Leading shifts by distributing and interpreting work assignments, assisting other Utility Plant staff in repair and service tasks, demonstrating proper work methods, and reviewing work for adherence to standards
• Performing routine, systematic maintenance, checks, and tests and maintaining accurate records.
• Enforcing all safety policies, regulations, laws, rules, and procedures required in the Power House.

• Full‑time employment
• Work hours are second shift: 2:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Wednesday – Sunday. Overtime as required and subject to emergency call‑in.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• One year of semi‑skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi‑skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.

Legal Requirements:

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
