Position Summary:

Under the moderate direction of a supervisor, performs general cleaning duties within dormitory, office, and other public facilities areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

TYPICAL JOB DUTIES

* Pick up and dispose of trash, to include the proper handling of recyclable materials.

* Dusts, sweeps, and/or dry mops.

* Wet mops and/or spot mops.

* Operates walk-behind or ride-on floor machine, wet vac, & carpet extractor.

* Cleans glass:
• All inside areas that can be safely reached.
• All entrance glass, including doors, inside and out.

* Sanitizes washrooms, showers, and toilet facilities (dormitories only).

* Fills all dispensers in restrooms.

* Vacuums and cleans carpets and walk-off mats.

* Washes walls, woodwork, light fixtures, inside of windows, and other glass.

* Removes snow and ice and cleans and/or picks up debris, such as leaves and paper, around entrances and fire exits (including fire escapes [dormitories only]) from the steps, and from the steps and walkways (generally distanced of ten feet or less) leading to buildings.

* Reports to immediate supervisor or to work control damage and/or malfunction of equipment observed within assigned areas.

* Performs other duties assigned within the normal scope of the department's responsibilities and the individual's capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

H.S. Diploma or equivalent

Ability to follow both written and oral directions. Ability to interact with customers(students, faculty, administration), co-workers and supervisors in a positive and helpful manner. Must be able to climb ladders, to bend and reach, and to lift(up to 60 lbs.)

Preferred Qualifications:

* H.S. Diploma or equivalent.

* 1 to 3 years of experience preferred.
