This position supports safe, welcoming, and well maintained park operations by providing visitor guidance, safety support, and administrative assistance. As a Park Resource Ranger, you will perform the following duties:

  • Visitor Support: Provide information, answer questions, and assist the public in person, by phone, and through email
  • Administrative Tasks: Prepare documents, create reports, and use computer programs to support daily park operations
  • Park Patrol: Monitor park grounds by vehicle, watercraft, bicycle, or foot to ensure safety and rule compliance
  • Emergency Response: Assist with first aid, search and rescue, weather events, and traffic control when needed
  • Facility Monitoring: Inspect buildings, trails, and structures to identify hazards and report or address issues
  • Program Assistance: Support educational and recreational programs by helping with scheduling, set up, and presentation

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately April 2026 until October 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment April 2027.
  • Work hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Days and shifts will vary due to the seasonal nature of the position. You will work 37.5 hours, 5 days per week to include holidays and weekends.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • This position requires employees obtain a valid certification in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR approved by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent within 60 days of employment.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
