Job Brief- BLASTER POSITION
Design, layout, prepare and detonate planned explosive related blasts with correct products, measured quantities, safe application, and effective use of explosives in alignment with manual.
What You’ll DoAs the Blaster, you will design, layout, prepare and detonate blasts with correct products, measured quantities, safe application, and effective use of explosives to meet customer and business requirements. Lead blast crew and provide on-the-job training to Blasters in Training positions. Other duties will include:
- Lead blast crew with accountability of all aspects of blast including, safety, layout, preparation and detonation according to business and customer requirements.
- Operate and direct work consistent with company policies and procedures from applicable technical modules, DNA Surface Blasting SOP, work site, regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
- Use and implementation of DN products, product applications, competitor’s products, blasting practices, and mining uarry principles.
- Understand and enhance service requirements to continually improve customer profitability.
- Manage and complete the Electronic Blasting Report, inventory records, and other appropriate documentation.
- Design of blast pattern to deliver accurate and efficient outcomes based on customer and business requirements.
- Investigate all product complaints and poor performing blasts. Escalate investigation to a Blaster II or Blaster III for support as required. Report findings to supervisor, and initiate Customer Dissatisfaction Report, if applicable. Share results of the investigation with local or regional team to support continuous education of blasters and supervisors.
- Promoting Zero Harm by observing safety and security procedures;
Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines;
Reports potentially unsafe conditions;
Uses equipment and materials properly. - Respond professionally and timely to address problems and business requests

What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 3+ years of related explosives industry work (i.e. bulk truck operator, de-watering truck operator)
- 1+ year working experience with progressively increasing professional or technical responsibility.
- Experience as a supervisor is preferred but not required.
- Must be 21 or older and willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives.
