Key Role Description

The Rotating Equipment Planner plans the execution of maintenance and turnaround jobs for their functional (craft) area in the refinery. Coordinates the resources between relevant disciplines and communicates progress to all affected parties. Develops maintenance plan and activity breakdown of jobs. Identifies and arranges resource requirements (Tools, Special tools, spares, consumables, services, etc.).

Technical Knowledge
  • Perform initial job screening, analyze job requirements, conduct job research, and build detailed job plans.
  • Assist in the development of reliability‑based maintenance strategies based on preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Select and describe the most efficient, safest and optimal way to complete the maintenance and / or turnaround work.
  • Assemble comprehensive planned job packages containing:
    • Detailed work order(s) listing required crafts, material and outside resources if needed.
    • Job plan detail by task.
    • BOM.
    • Develop duration estimates and schedules.
    • Prints, sketches, photos, special procedures, specifications, sizes, tolerances, and other technical references that the assigned crew may need when completing the work order.
    • Assure that all parts needed for a job are available and anticipate materials that should be stocked on site for future work.
Knowledge of Work Areas and Responsibilities
  • Create follow‑up work orders as needed based on information provided by field execution and communicate new work order status to all affected parties.
  • Assist execution on procuring parts & material for EWO's as needed.
  • Enter contract request forms; this includes new, renewals and amendments.
  • Enter security forms as needed; this includes new contractor site training and vehicle drive‑in requests.
  • Enter storehouse forms for inventory management; this includes stock & non‑stock additions and obsolescence, stock & non‑stock changes (material upgrade, description change, item master to stock change).
  • Act as custodian for all rotating equipment BOMs: responsible for stock & item master additions and removals, description changes, vendor and part number changes / upgrades, ensuring the correct quantity required for a particular item is correct on the BOM along with managing the required ROP / EOQ points.
  • Hold bi‑weekly backlog meeting with execution, reliability, OMC.
  • Ensure regulatory requirements that fail testing are repaired (where possible) and re‑tested within the set timeline.
  • Participate in pre‑job planning and safety reviews for high‑risk work activities.
  • Ensure ongoing data integrity of assets; e.g., model name, material changes, etc. are documented in the document system.
  • Responsible for updating CMMS data on assets and material.
  • Participate in turnaround and project planning process and review work lists and priorities.
  • Achieve safety performance by completing safety audits, hazard and unsafe work identification, reporting, and correction; promote good housekeeping.
  • Participate when required in MOC, PHA, and PSSR process to review safety and operating concerns and develop responsibility and verify completion.

Required Experience

Education, experience and skill requirements are as follows:

Minimum Qualifications
  • 8-15 years of crafts experience in a high‑risk industry such as refining, petrochemical, or chemical processing.
  • High School Diploma required; BS or Associates Degree preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and working in a CMMS.
  • Primavera P6 experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in all role specific competencies.
