description of work

this position supports codorus state park by performing maintenance, repair, and construction tasks across park buildings, facilities, and equipment. The work involves a variety of hands-on duties that help keep the park safe, clean, and operating effectively. As a maintenance repairman 1, you will perform the following duties:

• building repairs: make apprentice level repairs to park buildings using carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and related tools
• equipment operation: operate and maintain vehicles, mowers, and other equipment used throughout the park
• grounds maintenance: mow grass, trim vegetation, plant trees and shrubs, and prepare new turf areas
• facility upkeep: clean picnic areas, maintain restrooms and buildings, and repair tables, grills, and signs
• material handling: load, move, and transport materials using dump trucks or pickup trucks
• outdoor labor: dig ditches, clean culverts, cut firewood, clear brush, and assist with general outdoor tasks

work schedule and additional information:

• seasonal full-time employment, typically works about 8 months per year.
• this position does not provide health care benefits, nor the option to buy into group health care benefits.
• work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch. Days will vary. Position will work five days per week, 37.5 hours weekly, for seven-day operation. Must be available weekends and holidays.
• this position may work evenings, weekends, and holidays as workload and emergency situations warrant.

qualifications

required experience, training & eligibility

minimum experience and training requirements:

• two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
• any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

special requirements:

• this position requires possession of a valid class c non-commercial driver's license.
