Join our team as an Industrial Custodian and play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient environment for our staff and visitors. Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for preserving the cleanliness and orderliness of our facilities, contributing directly to a healthy and welcoming workplace. This is an excellent opportunity for dependable individuals who take pride in their work and thrive in a hands-on, active role.
Daily tasks include emptying trash cans and recycling containers, replacing liners, and transporting contents to the dumpster. You will also break down cardboard boxes and take them to recycle dumpsters multiple times per day. Occasionally, you will assist in the removal of ice and snow from pedestrian walkways seasonally, as required. Additionally, you will maintain the parking lot and keep it free of foreign debris, including removal of pine needles, weed whacking, and leaf removal for less than 5 hours a week.
You will observe the appearance and condition of premises and janitorial equipment and report needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. Other duties may include servicing, cleaning, and sanitizing restrooms, resupplying restroom supplies daily, servicing, cleaning, and sanitizing lunchrooms and break areas, resupplying utensils and condiment supplies, cleaning, dusting, and polishing furniture and fixtures in offices and production areas.
Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, ability to use ladders and reach high surfaces safely, knowledge of cleaning products and methods, awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions, strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work well with others and independently. Nice to have skills include previous experience in industrial cleaning or building care, familiarity with recycling procedures and waste management, and experience operating cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and buffing machines.
Other requirements include the ability to lift up to 35 lbs and perform physical tasks including walking, standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods, use step and extension ladders to reach, remove and replace light bulbs, dust walls and ceilings, and wipe high surfaces. Willingness to work outdoors during inclement weather when necessary and the ability to work overtime occasionally.
A valid driver's license is not required but advantageous.
