As a Custodial Worker 1 for the Department of Human Services, you will take pride in maintaining spaces that support comfort and safety. This role focuses on maintaining clean, sanitary, and orderly buildings and grounds to support daily living at South Mountain Restoration Center. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- General Cleaning: Mop, dust, scrub, wash, polish, and vacuum floors, furniture, walls, radiators, carpets, and mats
- Trash Handling: Empty and clean receptacles, remove trash and soiled linen, and separate recyclable materials
- Linen Services: Prepare, deliver, disinfect, and organize linen carts, tubs, racks, tablecloths, napkins, and clothing items
- Equipment Operation: Use manual and mechanical custodial equipment by following instructions and safe techniques
- Dining and Kitchen Care: Clean dining areas, tables, chairs, floors, window sills, and designated kitchen items
- Specialized Cleaning: Clean assistive devices, mattresses, lifts, chairs, wheelchairs, curtains, and related equipment

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, on a rotating basis, including weekends and holidays, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Willingness and ability to work in Franklin County, Pennsylvania
- Work experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person. This experience may include cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices, or public areas; and performing tasks such as mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, or buffing.
- Custodial or housekeeping work experience in a hospital, nursing home, correctional facility, fast food facility, restaurant, cafeteria, or school
- Work experience collecting and disposing of infectious waste into proper storage areas
- Work experience removing snow, trash, and debris from sidewalks and building entrance ways
- Work experience using and mixing chemicals or solvents
- Work experience using manual or power equipment to mop, scrub, sweep, strip, wax, and buff floors
- Work experience performing tasks such as operating a floor scrubbing machine, using ladders to clean high areas, proper handling of cleaning chemicals, interacting with patients or residents, snow removal from walkways and entrances, replacing light bulbs, cleaning furniture, mopping (wet or dry), and scrubbing
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
