Job SummaryIt is the intent of the basic job requirements, duties, and responsibilities that any building be kept neat and clean at all times. Staff will be required to perform the necessary work to maintain an optimum level of cleanliness in every building or worksite serviced by Flag Ship.
Essential Functions- Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing machines.
- Uses ladders to dust and wash walls, clean ceilings, and polish light fixtures.
- Washes and replaces blinds.
- Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas.
- Removes stains from rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
- Sweeps walkways, rakes leaves, cuts grass, removes snow, and performs other incidental seasonal tasks.
- Sweeps and vacuums windows and ledges; removes trash; performs heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Applies and removes protective coatings on walls, floors, and equipment.
- For carpeted areas: empties waste baskets, replaces liners, dusts or cleans tops of office furniture, vacuums all carpeting, spot cleans soiled areas, cleans glass on lobby doors, sweeps and mops tile areas.
- For lunchroom or break areas: empties waste baskets, replaces liners, wipes or cleans all tabletops and chairs, wipes or cleans vending machines and appliances, cleans sinks and counter areas, sweeps and mops tile floors.
- For restrooms: empties waste baskets, replaces liners, cleans and sanitizes toilets, basins, and urinals, sweeps and mops floors with disinfectant, spot cleans walls, partitions, and doors, refills all restroom dispensers.
- For non-carpeted areas: empties waste baskets, replaces liners, sweeps and mops tile floors, damp mops tile floors, dusts or cleans cleared desks and surfaces of tables.
- Conducts periodic cleaning of overhead vents, dusts blinds, polishes wood furniture, dusts high partitions and ledges, cleans interior partition glass.
- Keeps janitor’s closet neat and orderly; maintains equipment.
- Knowledge of basic janitorial duties and responsibilities.
- Good listening and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to speak and understand English (some positions require).
- Maintains a neat appearance; uniform required at some worksites.
- Attends periodic training and safety meetings.
- Understands and anticipates the needs of the clients.
- Punctuality.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent (preferred).
- Six months of experience in commercial facilities and building janitorial work (desired).
- Small-to-large office environment.
- Safety glasses required while performing certain tasks.
- Fast‑paced work environment.
- Safety class performed by Flagship.
- Noise level moderate.
- Exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, cleaning products and noise.
The employee may occasionally lift and/or move a minimum of 40 lbs of office and facilities equipment (cleaning products, tools, and ladders). The employee must be able to stand, walk, sit for long periods, perform repetitive movements, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
