Aircraft Maintenance/ Mechanic, Airport Staff & Aviation Operations
Position Summary
The Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Operations Manager/Maintenance Manager/Site Manager and supervises organizational level maintenance on assigned aircraft under contract to Amentum at NAS Pensacola or off‑site locations. The role directs, coordinates, and monitors all maintenance/material actions necessary to retain or restore aircraft, material, equipment, or components to a serviceable condition with a minimum expenditure of resources in the most efficient practical manner.
EssentialResponsibilities
- In-depth knowledge of CNAFINST 4790.2 Series and applicable T/M/S technical publications, Special Inspections, Technical Directives, and Aircraft Configuration requirements for flight operations.
- Ensure aircraft release for flight, monitor maintenance SCIR documentation via NALCOMIS/OOMA, review Aircraft Weight and Balance forms, and direct scheduled/unscheduled maintenance to meet operational tasking.
- Brief aircrew prior to Functional Check Flights, review their documentation of aircraft FCF performance, authorize cannibalization, coordinate Depot Level Inspection/Repair actions, assign workload priorities, and manage awaiting maintenance and material status.
- Coordinate T/M/S Aircraft configuration, liaise with Quality Assurance, notify Govt. Oversight QARs of all Flight Critical, Safety of Flight, and mandatory QA inspections, monitor high‑time components, establish supply priorities, and coordinate work‑center maintenance tasking to meet daily flight schedule and ground test requirements.
- Ensure maintenance complies with requirements, manufacturers' specifications, company policy, or acceptable standards recognized by the Navy; maintain neat and orderly work areas and observe all safety rules and regulations.
- Provide direct supervision, leadership, and management of day‑to‑day operations of assigned work groups; schedule personnel and ensure proper use of procedures, methods, and practices.
- Instruct and assist in training lower‑level employees in proper work methods and performance of duties.
- Perform other maintenance duties or supervisory functions as identified by senior management.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in aircraft maintenance and material support; previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledgeable of technical directives and CNAFINST 4790.2 Series; basic supply procedures.
- Work‑knowledge of applicable aircraft; minimum one year in a maintenance/production control position.
- Ability to write with clarity and technical accuracy.
- Must obtain a Govt. issued Common Access Card (CAC) and maintain any required qualification, certification, license, or clearance.
- Possesses or can qualify for a U.S. states driver’s license.
- Available to work all assigned shifts and schedules.
- Airframe & Powerplant (A/P) license.
- Previous supervisory experience.
Requires standing, walking, use of hands and fingers to handle, grip, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch; talk or hear. Work in outside weather conditions on aircraft flight line/ramp. Must be able to:
- Walk or stand on level or inclined surfaces up to 3 hours per day; sit up to 5 hours per day.
- Lifts up to 30 lbs. to a height of 4 feet, 20 lbs. to a height of 7 feet, and up to 50 lbs. with additional effort; occasionally lift up to 80 lbs.
- Crouch, crawl, grasp, or handle objects; use finger dexterity; bend elbows/knees; reach above/below shoulders.
- Routinely climb and descend stairs; travel may be required as directed by business necessity.
