Position Title: Automotive Technician I
OverviewThe City of Peoria Public Works has an excellent opportunity for an Automotive Technician I in the Fleet Division. In this role, you will perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of automotive and heavy equipment. Depending on assignment, this may include specialized vehicles such as fire pumpers and aerial trucks. Responsibilities include routine maintenance, minor mechanical repairs, and completing related tasks as needed to ensure the City’s fleet operates safely and efficiently.

Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate for this position will have:
- Background in automotive maintenance
- A solid light or heavy-duty equipment maintenance or repair background.
- The ability to balance the need to be productive and maintain a high standard of quality of work performed.
- A desire to further one’s technical skills in a team learning environment and work on a variety of equipment.

Minimum RequirementsEducation:
- High school graduation or equivalency.
Experience:
- 1-2 years experience. Moderate previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions.
Physical Demands:
- Work requires heavy physical exertion and effort.
Licenses and
Certifications:
- Valid Arizona Class “B” Drivers license within 6 months of hire.
- Possession of 2 Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.) Certificates, or ability to obtain within 1 year after date of hire.
