Nature of Work
Special duty firefighting work in the protection of life and property by the operation of firefighting apparatus. Primary responsibility is the driving of fire apparatus to fires and the operation of pumpers, ladder trucks and other specialized equipment under emergency fire conditions. An employee of this class is responsible for the routine maintenance and minor repair of assigned apparatus during an assigned shift.
An employee may be assigned to fire prevention inspection work, to the operation of hydrants, or to general firefighting work.
Graduation from a standard high school and 5 or more continuous years of experience as a firefighter.
Other Necessary QualificationsTHIS OPENING IS ONLY FOR CURRENT CITY OF GRAND RAPIDS FIRE PERSONNEL.
