Under general supervision, performs responsible and varied technical work that permits some choice of procedures and some independence of actions in the disposition of routine matters as it relates to ensuring the cleanliness of buildings, grounds and general building maintenance.
Responsibilities- A. Maintains buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure cleanliness. Repairs, inspects, shampoos, replaces, and cleans contents and fixtures of the buildings as assigned; will report any building deficiencies found during shift to supervisor.
- B. Conducts office, classroom, and common space furniture moves; assists with college event setups.
- C. Assists with the snow removal of all sidewalks and entryways at offsite campuses, which may include the operation of motorized equipment.
- D. Performs preventative maintenance of all equipment associated with the operation of offsite campuses with regard to filter changes, toilet repairs, and building lighting maintenance and repair.
- E. Mows, seeds, weeds, edges and provides other care to all offsite campuses. Maintains trees and shrubs by watering, fertilizing, and pruning as necessary.
- F. Conserves energy by turning off lights in unoccupied rooms.
- A. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
- B. May serve as a back-up to other staff members, as needed.
- C. May assist new employees and coordinate the activities of as-needed and student workers.
- D. May deliver intra-campus mail and assist with campus security.
- E. May serve as a member of the emergency response team.
- F. May assist with emergency evacuations as assigned.
- G. Responds to the functions of the position in an environmental setting which might include cold, heat, odor, dampness, dirt, fumes, dust, oil, grease, noise, or vibration on a frequent basis. Appropriate protective devices are available as required.
- H. Assists with the College Risk Management Program in a capacity appropriate to this position. This includes actions to ensure that the statutory and common law health and safety rights are extended to all visitors, employees and students; to make certain that the College’s buildings and grounds are maintained in a safe condition; and to provide careful supervision and protection of all of the College’s real and personal property.
- I. On call 24/7. May be required to report to work during off shift hours.
- J. Provides excellent customer service to visitors, students, and staff.
- A. High school diploma or equivalent with ability to read, write, perform basic arithmetic, and follow verbal and written instructions required.
- B. At least one to three years of commercial or institutional custodial experience required.
- C. Ability to lift 50 lbs. with or without an accommodation; ability to climb ladders and to move stage platforms and chairs, etc. required.
- D. Ability to pass a physical exam if offered the position.
- E. Excellent oral and written communication skills desirable.
- F. Proficiency in English desirable.
- G. Valid driver’s license required.
Range of pay: $16.53/hr. min.
- $18.18/hr. 1st quartile - $19.84/hr. mid.
