Automotive Technician, Automotive Mechanic
Responsibilities
- Perform vehicle inspections, complete maintenance, and repairs including oil changes, brake services, tire rotations, and engine repairs
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using advanced diagnostic equipment
- Learn GM service procedures and warranty processes
- Maintain accurate repair documentation, review history files, promote the sales of labor and parts as needed on vehicles
- Deliver high-quality workmanship and exceptional customer service
- Perform video and/or photographic inspection on each vehicle and forward the findings to the service advisor
- Work collaboratively with service advisors and senior technicians
- A passionate individual interested in automotive technology and repair
- Someone with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Someone who clearly shows a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- An individual with basic mechanical knowledge is preferred
- A person who exhibits a good work ethic and positive attitude
- A candidate who has the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Pay Tuition, lab fees, books, supplies, required materials, and tools totaling nearly $30,000.00 for qualified individuals.
- Students must be enrolled with I.C.C. or another GM ASEP school and must be accepted into the 2-year GM ASEP Program.
- The student must apply for employment, pass all pre-employment testing, and be successfully hired by a GM Dealership within the Uftring Auto Group and work a minimum of 3 months prior to starting school.
- Students are required to sign a 5-year employment agreement with the Uftring Auto Group. Upon completion of the 5-year term, all obligations will be considered fulfilled, and there will be no financial obligation for the education and tools on the part of the employee.
- If a student/employee elects to leave or is removed from the GM ASEP program prior to graduation, and/or does not fulfill the 5 year employment agreement with the Uftring Auto Group for any reason, they will forfeit the tool kit and be responsible to reimburse the dealership for the full cost of the tuition, lab fees, books, supplies, and required materials.
- Must graduate with 80+% of General Motors Factory Training Completed.
Graduating students will start regular full-time employment as a level 2 Technician.
Working ConditionsThis position requires working in the Service area and will be exposed to all weather conditions. It is a physically demanding role requiring a full range of motion, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and being in and out of vehicles for six to eight hours per shift. The candidate will lift parts weighing up to 70 pounds. Exposures include noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
