The Full-Time Maintenance Technician I (delivery) position is responsible for delivering books, supplies, and other Peoria Public Library materials to the five library locations. Attends to normal cleaning & maintenance of the library, setting up meeting rooms and responding to cleaning duties at all library locations.

JOB SUMMARYMaintains the interior and exterior of all library facilities including buildings, parking lots, and grounds; performs other duties as assigned. Reports to Manager of Facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS(Functions listed are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.)
- Maintains the interior of main and branch library facilities including public areas, offices, meeting rooms, cleaning restrooms, carpets and stairways on a regularly scheduled basis;
- Opens and closes the building, turns heating/cooling and security systems on and off;
- Sets-up meeting rooms with tables, chairs and refreshments, when needed;
- Vacuums and/or mops floors, dusts shelves, desks/tables and computer areas; removes trash; disinfects tables, chairs and other common use surfaces;
- Monitors and records electrical and gas usage;
- Performs general groundskeeping work, including snow removal and collecting trash;
- Painting as assigned;
- Sweeps and removes trash from library parking lots and grounds;
- Assembles furniture and shelving;
- Cleans the Bookmobile;
- Performs book runs;
- Prepares, loads, unloads and transports recycling material;
- May be required to work in multiple locations and on any of the 7 days of the workweek (Sunday – Saturday);
- Attends meetings and participates in committees and organizations that further the library’s mission and goals; and
- Keeps abreast of library developments by attending workshops, webinars, and educational programs and reading periodicals and specialized literature; attends staff meetings.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The employee is expected to perform or possess the following:
Work requires routine physical effort in the handling of light and moderately heavy materials of up to 50 pounds. May require standing for long periods of time and frequent stooping and bending. May use ladders up to 6 ft.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, libraries, classrooms or meeting and training rooms, parking lots and grounds e.g., use of safe work place practices with cleaning and maintenance equipment, avoidance of trips and falls and observance of fire and building safety regulations and traffic signals when driving. Work may involve routine exposure to chemicals and paint.
