Position: Maintenance Technician 7:30am to 4pm

Maintenance Technician

Rate: $17 to $18 per hour

Schedule: Includes alternating weekends (typically one weekend a month)

Position Summary

The Maintenance Worker provides a variety of standard and unskilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of facility grounds and facilities.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities

Works closely with and follows directions from the Maintenance Director.

Maintains building and grounds in a clean, safe and orderly condition.

Maintains and repairs basic functions of the facility as determined by the Maintenance Director.

Takes care of the tools and equipment.

Makes minor repairs on handrails, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, beds, wheelchairs, geri‑chairs, electrical equipment, sprinkling systems, generators, emergency lighting, fire alarms and extinguishers, changes filters on HVAC equipment, carries, lifts and stocks supplies.

Remains on call, when assigned, for 24 hours a day.

Assumes supervisor’s responsibilities in his/her absence.

Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

Performs other duties as requested.

Specific Educational / Vocational Requirements

High school degree or equivalent and basic knowledge of wiring, plumbing and carpentry.
Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.

Job Skills

Good organizational skills.
Agile and in good physical health.
Ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
Provide annual verification of negative TB skin test.

Performs Related Duties

Interacts with residents, families, visitors and employees.
Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands‑on intervention/participation may be required.
