GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Performs a comprehensive task list of housekeeping/custodial services throughout the College's buildings and service areas. May be assigned to a given building/work area as well as assignment elsewhere depending upon workload and staffing needs. Assists in grounds maintenance which may include weeding, snow removal, and grounds safety as needed with proper operation and safety training.

* Keeps school facilities clean and maintained by picking up trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and using industrial cleaning equipment

* Ensures school buildings, including doors and windows are secure per school policy and reports any irregularities to the proper authorities

* Cleans and stocks restrooms and cleaning closets, orders supplies, and maintains supply inventory and storage

* Addresses simple plumbing, electrical, and other repair work issues

DUTIES:

* Sweeps, vacuums and dust mops floors, stairways and related work areas; empties waste containers and removes boxes and other materials to designated areas.

* Cleans and services restrooms.

* Dusts blinds, furniture, file cabinets, window sills and other surfaces and areas.

* Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows (interior and exterior), mirrors and fixtures.

* Scrubs, strips, sanitizes, waxes and buffs floors using power machines equipped with rotating brushes.

* Observes instructions including safety procedures and product use relative to chemicals and other cleaning products.

* Cleans chalk/whiteboards, replenishes supplies as needed, cleans drinking fountains, changes light bulbs and mops and cleans unexpected spills.

* Uses check sheets to track and determine frequency of cleaning in a designated area.

* Notifies supervisor in a timely manner of any building or service areas requiring extensive attention, any obstacles to performing work as required or equipment in need of repair.

* Assists with room set up, rearrangement and tear down as assigned.

* Completes work order ticket assignments in a timely manner and communicates work order completion status.

* Assist with snow removal around entrances of buildings and walk ways as assigned.

* Works efficient, in a manner not to disturb the functions of the college.

* Ensures and communicates a safe environment for occupants/bystanders close in proximity to work being done.

* Cleans, sweeps, and or power washes, work areas when completed with a project or is finished at the end of shift.

* Performs other directly related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* High school diploma or GED, or actively pursuing.

* Maintain a valid and unrestricted Driver's License.

* Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees and communicate in writing through a work order system.

* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of liquid and dry measurement.

* Ability to proficiently utilize Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn and use other computer software as needed to perform daily employment functions.

* Must be able to perform the essential functions of this job including the physical demands of performing the job duties.

* Ability to frequently lift and or move up to 50lbs.

* Ability to safety perform job tasks with tools and assigned equipment.

* Ability to work independently.

Additional Information:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position involves work in all outside weather conditions, with sharp, moving and mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, electricity and moderate to loud noise levels. It is expected that the employee will be versed in safety protocols and perform their work in a safe manner as to prevent personal injury and ensure safety. Work may require working varied shifts, weekends, holidays, and being on call.
