About the Role

Join the City of Pharr as a Full‑Time Laborer. This onsite position allows you to engage directly with fellow workers and residents, fostering a collaborative environment. You will play a crucial role in enhancing our community’s infrastructure. Compensation is competitive at $26,500 per year.

As a problem solver, you will tackle real-world challenges and make a tangible difference in the city.

You will work under the direct supervision of the Bridge Assistant Director, performing custodial and landscaping duties at the Pharr International Bridge Building.

• Maintain clean and safe environments by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming floors.
• Service and restock restrooms to ensure high standards of cleanliness.
• Gather and dispose of trash, clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Perform minor adjustments and repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems.

Success requires a strong understanding of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance. Knowledge of the chemical composition, properties, and safe handling of substances relevant to custodial and landscaping tasks is essential. Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and recognize when maintenance is required is also crucial. Attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and a proactive mindset are important.
