Weekend shift differential: $1/hour

Night shift differential: 18% where applicable

This position conducts heavy cleaning and floor care work such as carpet cleaning, stripping/refinishing hard floor surfaces, and special projects. Operates and maintains power cleaning equipment, responds to assigned service requests such as project cleaning, equipment removal, trash or linen removal. Sets an example of excellent customer service while maintaining a safe and clean environment and identifying safety issues related to housekeeping.

• Respond promptly to cleaning service requests via computerized and paper tracking systems.
• Conduct requested work including removal, replacement, cleaning of equipment and furniture, or cleaning of an area.
• Maintain infection control logs and daily task documentation.
• Perform specialty cleaning and infection control functions in clinical areas, surgical suite, cath lab, specialty rooms, and sterile areas.
• Maintain cleanliness & operational functioning of department equipment, notify personnel of needed repairs.
• Assess environmental conditions, anticipate and resolve clutter and safety issues, and refer to supervisor when necessary.
• Provide leadership to less experienced associates and assist with on-the-job training for cleaning techniques, chemical usage, supply restocking, and infection control procedures.
• Perform scheduled floor care procedures including dust mopping, mopping, stripping and refinishing, burnishing, and carpet extraction. Calculate quantities and mix ratio of cleaning chemicals.
• Work within assigned facility under regular supervision for internal and external customers.

• 1-2 years of floor care and housekeeping experience required.
• Experience in a hospital or institutional environment preferred but not required.
• Working knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment and appropriate cleaning techniques for healthcare environment.
• Basic math skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, coordinate several projects simultaneously, and follow instructions.
• Role model of customer service skills, safe work practices, and infection control including hand hygiene.
• Must be able to stand, climb, stoop, bend frequently; lift up to 75 pounds; push carts up to 500 lbs.; tolerate exposure to hazardous materials.
• Must wear protective clothing per regulations.

• Basic computer skills.
• Previous related experience with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques.
