As the Maintenance/Transportation Worker, you help ensure students have access to high quality education by providing direct maintenance, transportation, minor maintenance, supply delivery and cleaning for a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
Position Custodian $16.00–17.00 per hour (depending on experience). Full‑time, 10.5‑month school year. Includes benefits: medical, dental, life insurance. Requires custodial/cleaning experience and operation of heavy machinery.
Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor and the Night Lead Custodian, responsible for cleaning the physical plant, classrooms and other areas, as well as minor maintenance (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, painting, equipment).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform scheduled housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and neat appearance at all District sites.
- Specific housekeeping tasks include vacuuming, dust mopping, dusting, wet mopping, cleaning glass, washing and cleaning exterior walkways, waxing, buffing, painting, stripping, shampooing.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to lift heavy objects.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
- Working knowledge of industrial equipment.
- Basic knowledge of housekeeping practices.
- Good physical health.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Education and Experience
- Prior custodial experience.
- Maintenance experience in electrical or mechanical equipment.
- Achievement: Drive to set challenging goals and achieve high performance.

- Communication: Effectively convey information, use listening skills, and be open to ideas.
- Team Focus: Work cooperatively to achieve common goals.

Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentThe job requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, use of hands, arms, fingers, occasional lifting up to 50 lb. Must have good vision (close, distance, color, peripheral). Work environment has moderate to loud noise, variable temperature, fast‑paced and sometimes stressful with public interaction.
