Job Overview

Floor Care Associate position at Banner Estrella Medical Center, Phoenix, Arizona. This role ensures the facility’s floors, areas, and equipment remain clean, safe, and presentable for patients, staff, and visitors.

• Shift: 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (Day)
• Rotating weekends and holidays required
• Weekend shift differential: flat rate $1.00 per hour
• Night shift differential: 18 % when applicable
• May be called to work at Banner Goldfield Medical Center in emergency staffing situations

• Buff, strip, wax, and maintain all hard‑floor surfaces; perform carpet extraction and refinishing as needed.
• Operate and maintain power cleaning equipment, including vacuum, buffer, and floor scrubbers.
• Clean, sanitize, and maintain hospital spaces, including clinical areas, surgical suites, Cath labs, specialty rooms, and sterile areas.
• Perform infection‑control cleaning in isolation rooms, following gowning protocols and hand‑hygiene requirements.
• Respond promptly to service‑request tracking systems, completing equipment removal, furniture replacement, or other cleaning tasks.
• Maintain daily infection‑control and maintenance logs, and record quantities and mix ratios of cleaning chemicals.
• Identify and report safety or equipment‑repair needs; follow up with supervisors or facilities services staff.
• Assist with on‑the‑job training for new associates, demonstrating cleaning techniques, chemical usage, and infection‑control procedures.
• Provide excellent customer service, acting as a role model for professionalism and safety.

• 1–2 years of floor‑care or environmental‑services experience in a health‑care or institutional setting.
• Knowledge of operating industrial cleaning equipment and appropriate cleaning techniques for healthcare environments.
• Basic math skills for calculating clean‑up quantities and chemical mix ratios.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to multi‑task, adapt to changing priorities, and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to safe work practices, infection control, and customer‑service excellence.

• Basic computer skills.
• Previous experience with environmental‑services equipment and cleaning techniques.
• Additional related education or experience.

• All Banner Health employees must receive the annual Flu Vaccine.
• Background check and drug screen required.
• Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS locations that serve children require an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and Arizona Criminal History Affidavit upon hire.
