Maintenance Manager
The Maintenance Manager oversees day‑to‑day functions of mechanics, bus washers, utility workers, and administrative staff. Maintenance facilities typically operate on a three‑shift basis to ensure equipment maintenance, testing, inspections, and compliance with DOT, client, or company standards. This position is based in Phoenix, AZ.
Compensation & Benefits- Competitive compensation package: $112,000–$140,000 annually
- Vacation: minimum of two weeks
- Sick days: 5 days
- Holidays: 12 days (8 standard and 4 floating)

- Supervising Maintenance Staff:
Hire, train, evaluate technicians, enforce safety and performance standards, administer discipline, monitor absences/PTO/FMLA, verify and authorize payroll time sheets, conduct safety/shift turnover meetings, facilitate union‑based work environment. - Preventive Maintenance:
Develop and implement maintenance schedules, perform inspections, ensure mechanical, electrical and automated system efficiency, make on‑spot repair decisions, coordinate with mechanics and vendors, manage parts inventory, schedule buses for PMIs, close work orders by EOM. - Budget and Resource Management:
Track maintenance expenses, manage spare parts inventory, forecast material needs, optimize costs while maintaining operational standards. - Compliance and Safety:
Ensure activities comply with safety regulations and environmental standards, communicate issues with facility maintenance, address environmental concerns, maintain cleanliness of yard and facilities. - Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
Provide mechanical and electrical expertise, coordinate with vendors or contractors, monitor down/out‑of‑service equipment, provide daily reports, collect oil samples for analysis, review RTA dashboard. - Other duties as required.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Valid CDL Class B (or higher) with passenger and air‑brake endorsements preferred.
- Seven or more years experience in repair and maintenance of heavy‑duty automotive and transit equipment.
- Three or more years supervisory experience.
- Broad understanding of mechanical systems related to heavy‑duty transportation vehicles.
- Familiarity with laws and regulations associated with safe operation of maintenance facilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work shifts or flexible work schedules.
- Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable; DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 applies.
- Work outside in varying temperature, weather and humidity conditions—100% of the job performed outside; work alone in remote locations.
- Sit extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk long distances, including on sloped, slippery or uneven surfaces.
- Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds; lift material up to 50 lb. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel or crouch to access ground‑level equipment.
- Withstand heavy traffic while performing duties; tolerate dust, vehicle fumes and noise exposure.
