Position

CUSTODIAN 10 MO — Facilities, Maintenance & Warehouse

Essential Functions
  • Provides quality environmental services to assigned campus/site to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students and staff. Clean and maintain floors (sweep, mop, wax), wash windows and walls, patch broken windows/doors, scour/polish tile, porcelain, mirrors and metal fixtures, and arrange furniture.
  • Clean outside walkways; power wash exterior walls and surfaces; empty trash receptacles.
  • Clean, sanitize, and restock supplies in locker rooms and restrooms.
  • Secure buildings by ensuring doors and windows are intact and locked; ensure lights are out.
  • Assist in set up for and clean up after activities.
  • Replace damaged ceiling tiles, light bulbs, and tubes; perform minor repairs on fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
  • Report damage or necessary repairs to the immediate supervisor.
  • Support the relationship between the district and the public by maintaining courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and staff; maintain confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follow Governing Board Policies; perform all other related duties as required or assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent; or at least six months in custodial practices; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Ability to operate custodial equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and extractors.
  • Ability to read and follow warning labels on cleaning supplies and hazardous materials.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Skill in planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.
  • Commitment to create and sustain a thriving learning and working environment for students and staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to use initiative within organizational policies, procedures and guidelines.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
  • Work is performed throughout campuses and district facilities, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Work requires exposure to hot and cold temperatures, potentially dangerous tools and equipment, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Physical ability to perform all essential functions (stand, turn, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, lift, push, pull, and climb ladders).
  • May be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
