Job Overview

Grand Canyon University, a private, non‑denominational Christian university located in Phoenix, Arizona, seeks a Facilities Cleaning Staff member to maintain campus cleanliness and support the university mission.

• Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
• Polish equipment, furniture, elevator doors, railings, and other surfaces.
• Vacuum rugs and carpeted areas in offices, lobbies, and corridors.
• Maintain tiled or hard floors with wet mop, floor scrubber or polisher as needed.
• Empty wastebaskets, recyclables and dispose of trash properly.
• Dust furniture, cabinets, paneling, windowsills, equipment, printers, telephones, picture frames, magazine racks, air‑conditioning registers, wall grills, ceiling air‑conditioning diffusers, and exterior surfaces such as light fixtures.
• Service, clean, and restock restrooms.
• Handle cleaning tasks in labs, classrooms, or gym areas as assigned.
• Adhere to OSHA guidelines and wear PPE while handling cleaning chemicals.
• Ensure buildings are secured after cleaning and notify public safety of any suspicious situations or lost valuables.
• Clean exterior building areas, including light fixtures, glass doors, and entrance way sweepings.
• Assist with setting up or tearing down special event seating or equipment.
• Maintain exterior grounds cleanliness by removing visible trash.
• Perform cleaning and disinfecting of areas contaminated with blood borne pathogens or other infectious materials according to protocols.
• Execute other duties as assigned.

• Follow routine checklists and verbal/written instructions from leads, supervisors or managers.
• Use and handle various commercial cleaning chemicals and solvents and specialty cleaning tools such as power washers and window‑cleaning equipment.
• Comply with OSHA and safety requirements.

High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 6 months of related commercial cleaning experience or similar work experience. Must pass a background check.
