The Janitorial Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of the facility. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties to ensure the building remains in pristine condition for employees, visitors, and customers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable in chemical safety, and capable of performing physical tasks efficiently.

The Janitorial Technician will perform a variety of custodial duties for Vaakawi. Such responsibilities shall be in accordance with established standards, instructions, and procedures of Vaakawi.

Full Time

• Sanitation & Cleaning:
  Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and common areas; restock supplies (paper towels, soap, toilet paper) as needed.
• Floor Care:
  Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and wax floors using appropriate equipment and industrial cleaning solutions.
• Waste Management:
  Empty trash receptacles and recycling bins; transport waste to designated disposal areas.
• Surface Maintenance:
  Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment; clean windows and glass surfaces.
• Safety Compliance:
  Adhere to safety protocols regarding the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment; maintain knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Facility Upkeep:
  Monitor the building for minor maintenance issues (e.g., burnt-out light bulbs, leaks) and report significant repairs to management.

• Physical Stamina:
  Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects (up to 30-50 lbs), and operate heavy machinery (buffers, floor scrubbers).
• Attention to Detail:
  High standards for cleanliness and the ability to spot necessary repairs.
• Time Management:
  Ability to work independently and complete tasks within a scheduled shift.
• Technical Knowledge:
  Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, solvents, and safety regulations (OSHA).
