Building Maintenance Worker
The Building Maintenance Worker maintains the physical integrity of facilities by performing custodial, groundskeeper, semi-skilled building maintenance, and repair duties.
Essential Functions:
- Performs general campus, buildings, grounds, and custodial maintenance and repairs
- Checks and monitors heating and cooling units
- Power washes sidewalks and building exteriors
- Clears walkways
- Operates security alarm systems
- Orders, receives, controls, and issues maintenance supplies and equipment
- Paints classrooms and other areas
- Performs grounds maintenance and landscaping duties
- Maintains and supervises daily campus activities and maintenance staff in the absence of the Campus Facility Supervisor
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Two years of building maintenance or custodial experience
- A valid Arizona State Driver's License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required:
- Skill in performing general preventative and corrective building and grounds repairs and maintenance
- Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
- Ability to follow established safety policies, procedures, and practices
- Skill in planning, prioritizing, and completing assignments with minimum supervision
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to provide excellent customer experiences
- Commitment to create and sustain a thriving learning and working environment for students and staff
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to use initiative within organizational policies, procedures and guidelines
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
- Work is performed throughout campuses and District facilities, both indoors and outdoors
- Work requires exposure to hot and cold temperatures, potentially dangerous tools and equipment, and hazardous chemicals
- Physical ability to perform all of the essential functions
- May be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
